PhD student Vida Nooshnab presented her research on measuring the optical properties of quantum cascade structures at the recent MRS Spring Meeting!
In this talk, she described an approach combining spectroscopic ellipsometry and computational optical modeling to extract the anisotropic optical characteristics of structures like quantum cascade lasers or quantum cascade detectors. This includes subtle intersubband absoroption features, which can traditionally be challenging to characterize without special fabrication steps. This work will be useful for design and characterization of a variety of infrared optoelectronic devices.
