Deb & Prof. Tervo present at Photonics West

PhD student Debarati Sen and Prof. Tervo both presented at the recent SPIE Photonics West Conference.

Deb described her work on the design of simple, scalable structures for tunable thermal emission. These could enable ultra-narrow band and highly directional emission of light for wavelengths and angles of the designer’s choice, and they could be useful for applications like gas sensing or energy conversion. Prof. Tervo described the group’s work on the development of thermophotovoltaic cells and systems for low temperature heat sources to open up a wider range of applications for this technology.
